Education

NIWT conducts continuing education programs for senior executives in the fields of international trade and educational technology and has trained foreign visitors from universities, government agencies and industry, including an influx in recent years of students and executives from the former Soviet Union.  NIWT provided training for the first large group of Soviet plant managers to visit the United States to learn Western Business practices.

Inherent in many of NIWT's programs and projects is the use of telecommunications and computers for distance learning, management, telemedicine and self-paced learning.

NIWT has assisted several universities in development of specialized courses to be delivered over the internet.

NIWT serves on the Advisory Board of AIESEC, the "Association Internationale des Etudiantes en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales" the largest international student program specializing in internships, with chapters throughout the world.

A recent initiative has been the creation of a Global Logistics Center, headquartered in Jamaica, Queens, with its initial thrust devoted to education and training for Terrorism Risk Management in transportation-related activities.
