Missions

The US-NIS Chamber of Commerce was founded and managed by NIWT.  Since 1992, NIWT has led hundreds of companies to Russia and  various Republics in pursuit of mutually advantageous trade and investment opportunities.

NIWT addresses fundamental trade issues such as the problems inherent in dealing with countries which have less than an optimum record with regard to the protection of intellectual property rights.  This subject has been a recurrent theme in conferences to date.

NIWT has led numerous trade and development missions to Asia, Europe and Latin America, conducted defense conversion seminars in several cities of Russia and the NIS and served as a consultant to the Soros Foundation on economic diversification.

Under a grant from New York State, NIWT created the Trade Development Consortium, a not-for-profit trading company which helped launch small businesses into international markets in the late 1980's.

Industry-sector and discipline concentration in recent years has emphasized environmental control, agricultural development, computer software, medical systems, educational technology, defense diversification, transportation, logistics and international risk management.
